About Outward Bound USA: Outward Bound’s mission is to change lives through challenge and discovery. While perhaps ambitious and bold, our vision is a more resilient and compassionate world, with more resilient and compassionate citizens. Founded in 1941 by the famous educator Kurt Hahn, today Outward Bound is one of the United States leading non-profit experiential learning and outdoor education organization. Each year Outward Bound serves over 35,000 people of all ages and backgrounds across the country through challenging learning expeditions that inspire strength of character, leadership and service to others, both in and out of the classroom. Outward Bound expeditions and programs are inside city and suburban classrooms and outside in breathtaking wilderness settings. All programs adhere to Outward Bound’s unique and powerful educational framework with a core emphasis on character, leadership and service. As a result, Outward Bound builds confidence in its students and develops their abilities to interact and work effectively with others.
