Yesterday we got lucky with a sunny, beautiful day for our Governors Island WARM UP. This year, our Governors Island Day took place at the Oval located next to the brand new (and soon to be opened) Hills section of the Island.
The day started with the TMIRCE (The Most Informal Running Club, Ever) leading a very informal run around the island to introduce everyone to the wonders of the car-free space that is Governors Island.
After a short water break (shout out to @drinkagua for keeping us hydrated!) The Rise NYC started they're 1.5 hour long workout, a "teaser" of sorts of their weekly schedule of butt-kickingly awesome free workouts.
After some serious sweating, high fives, races, and burpees it was time to let our heart rates go down a notch. Gab Stratton started the process with a half hour of "hydration meditation".
With this feeling of zen taking over, Angelica Olstad of Pop Up Yoga NYC followed up with an hour long Vinyasa Yoga class (if you missed it - never fear Angelica will be teaching on the beach next week)
We finished off the day with a writing workshop with blogger Jane Rosales and the team at Life is Good who are on a mission to collect stories of Heroes of Optimism (share yours here).
After a day of working out our bodies, our mind, and our gratitude we were tired, sunburned and smiling as we packed up and headed home. We can't wait to officially launch OutdoorFest this Friday June 10th. We hope to see you there!
