Winter Hiking at Kent Falls

Every now and then you need a day to rest those sore muscle from all your recent adventures. The only issue is, you don't want to sit around inside, you want to be outside. Insert a trip to Kent Fall State Park. The perfect rest adventure day.

Located 1 hour and 45 minutes north of New York City it is a perfect day trip/scouting trip for your next adventure. The parking lot is a good size but during summer and fall months it can fill up quickly. Parking costs are $7 for CT cars and $10 for out of state cars (Free parking normally from November through April).

From the parking lot you will instantly notice the large field with picnic tables and grills for visitors. at the far end of the field you will be able to see the lowest waterfall. Once at the base of the falls, start exploring, the path to your right will lead you all the way to the top. there are multiple viewpoints and landings that are perfect to set up your camera's tripod.

There are also sections where you can venture off the trail and closure to the falls. *Note, there are sections with signs that say restricted & do not climb rocks. If you are rebellious (easier to do during November & April) just be careful of your footing as the rocks are very slippery of course.

Follow the falls all the way to the top and take you time to soak it all in. Then, head back down the same way you came or cross the river at the very top (shallow and thinner) and make your own route back down the other side of the falls.
