While we've been keeping the schedule under wraps we couldn't hold this one in: after 2 years of trying and trying we FINALLY got a permit to highline in NYC this summer!
June 1st we will be orchestrating a sunset highline demo with a line set between the Empire State Building and the Chrysler Building. We felt that by choosing two iconic locations we could really show off how very easy it is to live in the New York City and love all of your outdoor sports - including highlining!
After an intense interview and tryout process we have chosen two local slackliners, Tun Khine and Becky Hahn to be our featured slackers. We will also invite two complete noobies to try it out for funzies. All you have to do is tweet this article out and sign our liability waiver to enter!
The distance between the two "anchors" is 9 city blocks or about 4,000 feet which is about 20 times the distance between the Twin Towers that the "Man on Wire" Philippe Petit did. This is a total bucket list event you do not want to miss.
For those wondering about the technical aspects of the event: we will be using 8mm static rope in a sliding-x pattern. Double Type 18 MKII webbing anchored with Alpine WebLock 3.0's. 4 bolts anchor with steel shackles. SNare_SANE test: checked!
Ready for another epic OutdoorFest? We are too.
