Join REI & NYNJTC for National Trails Day by public transit from New York City.
Did you know you can get to thousands of miles of trails via public transit? Today we'll meet at Port Authority to take the Short Line bus up to Bear Mountain for National Trails Day.
REI & NYNJTC will be set up at Bear Mountain with outdoor festivities featuring trail building projects, trail maintenance, invasive species removal, guided hikes activities in the field, and more!
Please dress for a day in the outdoors - clothes/footwear to get dirty, long sleeves & pants, hiking boots or old sneakers, hat, sunglasses, sunblock, snacks for the day, water bottle, and a day pack.
We'll be taking the Short Line Bus from Port Authority leaving at 8:45AM to Bear Mountain. Tickets are $26.70 round trip and can be bought here*. Return buses depart at 3:19PM or 5:19PM.
*Please note: Unfortortunately Short line does not guarantee seats even if you buy tickets. It's first come, first serve seating - we recommend showing up early.
