Community Engagement Intern, New York, NY

Be part of the launch of the first membership based community of outdoor enthusiasts in New York City. In this role, you will work directly with OutdoorFest Founder Sarah Knapp in creating a prototype community in New York City. Your role will include, planning and producing local events, securing member benefits with local partners, and spearheading a communication strategy to promote the new program. 

This is a great role for a student interested in digital community infrastructure, event production and communication and marketing. 

About Mappy Hour (a division of OutdoorFest)

Started in New York City in 2014, Mappy Hour offers monthly events to urban dwelling outdoor enthusiasts looking to connect and learn. Our 10 chapters, across North America provide meet-ups, field trips, and education content to inspire outdoor recreation and include urban populations in the increasingly popular outdoor world. From panels to presentations, hikes to campouts, the Mappy Hour community proves you can live in the city and love the outdoors. 

Qualifications

  • Social media acumen 

  • Clear and respectful communication

  • Interest in deep diving into best practices in community management both digitally and at in-person events

  • 21+ only due to the inclusion of alcohol at our events

  • We’re looking for someone who is kind, creative and ready to roll up their sleeves and get the job done. 

  • Extremely organized.

Compensation: Stipend based on length of engagement.
